Diagnostics and Biotech Market Usage

Biotech Market Usage Study

A collaboration with a global consulting leader on behalf of a prominent international pharmaceutical sponsor.

We connected with C-suite executives, Lab Directors, and Senior Technicians across 19 markets in a multi-wave benchmarking study to track the usage of diagnostic instruments and reagents. By capturing insights from high-level decision-makers in public and private sectors, this research delivered a comprehensive roadmap of the global life sciences landscape, providing the sponsor with the verified data necessary to refine their international market positioning.

  • 900 20-Minute Interviews
  • 19 Markets

Objectives

The goal of this study is to deliver a multi-country life science benchmarking tracker across three annual waves, focusing on the following key areas:

  • Diagnostic Benchmarking: Analyzing usage across Clinical Chemistry (CC), Immunochemistry (IC), Molecular Diagnostics, and Tissue Diagnostics.
  • Targeted Decision-Makers: Engaging C-suite executives, Lab Directors, Managers, and Senior Lab Technicians with significant decision-making power.
  • Work Setting Insights: Evaluating performance across Public and Private Hospitals (minimum 50 beds) and Independent/Standalone Reference Laboratories.
  • Geographic Specifics: Implementing region-specific screening, including hospital classes in APAC (e.g., China 3a, 3b, 2) and regional hospital location.
  • Professional Standards: Validating insights through participants with at least 2–3 years of experience and meeting specific minimum quotas per brand.

Methodology

The study was executed through a high-precision, end-to-end framework managed entirely by RONIN:

  • Sample Design: A quantitative study involving 900 interviews with verified professionals having at least 2 to 3 years of experience in hospitals with 50+ beds or independent laboratories.
  • Multi Modal Recruitment: Custom outreach combining proprietary databases and targeted digital recruitment to secure high-quality participation across APAC, Europe, and the Americas.
  • Technical Management: Full scripting and hosting of the survey platform to ensure seamless data collection across three annual waves.
  • Clinical Specialization: Focused data gathering across specific fields including Clinical Chemistry, Molecular Diagnostics, and Tissue Diagnostics.
  • Global Standardization: Coordination of professional localization and translation in all 19 markets to deliver a consistent, global benchmarking tracker for the client.

Challenges

  • Reaching and engaging senior decision-makers across diverse healthcare sectors and markets, where varying titles, responsibilities, and limited availability made targeting complex.
  • Adapting to different healthcare systems and market structures while maintaining balanced representation across public, private, and independent sectors.
  • Managing language and cultural differences, requiring localized and culturally sensitive communication strategies.

Our Approach

To overcome the complexities of global healthcare recruitment and data consistency, we implemented a targeted, expert-led strategy:

  • Identifying Niche Decision Makers: To solve the challenge of varying job titles and limited availability, we utilized intensive desk research and specialist databases. This allowed us to pinpoint and verify professionals with specific decision-making power, ranging from Lab Directors to C-suite executives, ensuring we reached the high-level participants required for this study.
  • Navigating Market Complexity: We adapted our screening to match local healthcare structures, such as specific hospital tiers in China. This ensured the sample was representative across public, private, and independent sectors despite differing regional classifications.
  • Bridging Cultural and Language Gaps: By managing all translations and localized communications internally, we ensured that the interviews were culturally sensitive and technically accurate. This maintained a unified data standard across all 19 markets.
